Teak is the rare species whose natural oils, tight grain, and silica content allow it to sit outside without rot and without any finish at all. Left alone, it silvers gracefully to a driftwood gray. Cleaned and sealed once a season, it returns to honey.
We specify only Grade A teak — the dense, uniformly golden heartwood cut from the center of mature trees grown on sustainable plantations. Sapwood and the lower grades cut from younger trees simply don't weather the same way. The difference becomes unmissable in year ten.
Our aluminum frames are fully welded, then finished in an 80-micron powder coat that is baked at 400°F into a hard, UV-stable surface. Available in matte black on the Barcelona collection, with custom finishes on hospitality contracts.
Aluminum carries a different visual register from teak — cleaner lines, sharper geometry, more architectural presence. We started using it as the internal frame inside our wicker collections two decades ago. With Barcelona, it becomes the structure itself.
Hand-brushing is a different way of finishing the same aluminum frame — instead of spraying on a powder coat, a craftsperson works the surface by hand with a graining brush, drawing a fine, directional grain into the metal itself. The result reads warmer and more tactile than a painted finish, and it catches light differently depending on the angle you're standing at.
Because there's no coating layer, there's nothing to chip — the finish simply lives on the metal. It's a quieter, more refined look for anyone who wants the frame itself to be part of the design, not just a color underneath the cushions. Our all-weather wicker is hand-woven from HDPE resin — a polymer with a UV-stable, color-locked finish. Each strand is drawn to a custom profile and woven by hand over a powder-coated aluminum frame.
The wicker is engineered for a fifteen-year service life in continuous outdoor exposure — resistant to fading, cracking, and unraveling under normal use. It closely mimics the look and hand of natural rattan, without rattan's vulnerability to a single coastal summer.
The Admiral, Marseille, and Ventura collections are wrapped in braided outdoor polyester rope. It is quick-drying, mildew-resistant, and solution-dyed in the strand so the color resists fading over time. Rope is our newest material program, so it's limited to these collections so far.
Each course is wrapped by hand and drawn taut over the frame, so the lines stay even and the seat keeps its tension season after season.
Our sling is a precision-woven vinyl-coated polyester. Tightly woven for durability, UV-stable in solution-dyed strands, and quick-drying so the seat is ready minutes after rain. Used on the Captiva, Florida, SailMate, and Sundaze chair and lounge programs as a quietly elegant alternative to cushioned seating.
Cushionless doesn't mean compromised. Sling tensions perfectly to the body, sheds water within minutes, and never absorbs what you don't want it to absorb. Five colorways across the line, with custom selections available to trade accounts.
Sunbrella® Acrylic
Every Royal Teak cushion is manufactured in North Carolina, sewn with Sunbrella® solution-dyed acrylic fabrics over a quick-dry open-cell foam core with a reinforced seam. The fabric carries Sunbrella's five-year warranty against fade and degradation.
We offer fourteen cushion colorways and five sling colorways across the line. Custom Sunbrella selections are available to trade accounts on a four-to-five week production cycle.
The reason a Royal Teak piece is still standing in year fifteen is rarely the wood — it's the hardware. We use stainless steel throughout. Not zinc-plated, not powder-coated steel — the kind of cold-rolled stainless that resists corrosion in the same coastal conditions our pieces are tested in. Bolts, brackets, hinges, every fastener you can see and every one you can't.
It costs three times as much as the alternatives, and it does not show. The customers who notice are the ones who didn't have to call us a decade in.
