Issue No. 01 Summer 2026

A look inside the drawings behind the new collections — the silhouettes the studio drafted, perfected, and made to scale before the first board was crafted.

On the Studio Practice

Decided on paper.
Built in teak.

A collection is decided on paper long before it's prototyped in teak. The seat height. The back angle. The shoulder of the arm. The way the cushion meets the frame. Every detail is incorporated in the design before being rendered to scale — so that when the first prototype lands in one of our factories, it arrives as a faithful translation of the studio's intent, not an approximation of it.

The pieces on the pages that follow are the working drawings the studio used to set the proportions of the new 2026 deep-seating collection — the Hamptons collection. The drawings stayed in the studio for the better part of a year. These outdoor furniture pieces have now been made.

A good outdoor sofa is one you stop noticing — until someone says it's the most comfortable seat on the porch.

Hamptons · 2026 · Solid Teak Deep Seating

A high back, drawn to hold a head.

The question that shaped Hamptons was simple: what would an outdoor sofa look like if the back was actually tall enough to support a head when someone leans? Most outdoor sofas compromise on back height to hit a target depth, a target weight, a target price. Hamptons resists all three, and the silhouette below is where the studio settled.

A silhouette is a thousand small decisions standing on top of each other. The drawing is where they're argued out.

The Hands Behind the Pencils

Leigh Barron leads the studio.

The design process is one of constant conversation — with dealers, hospitality designers, and the families who've kept Royal Teak pieces on the same patio for thirty summers.
